Susan’s Journey: Football 101 with the Chicago Bears

A few lessons learned from Chicago Bears equipment manager Tony Medlin:
• Players bring two jerseys to each game so they have a back-up
• The players must wear uniforms and equipment displaying logos of their brand sponsor or they are fined $$ (it’s different for every team, Brian Urlacher, for example is sponsored by Nike)
• The Chicago Bears lockers are organized by position
• The players’ shoes have their own carrying case!
• And Lisa asked the question everyone wanted to know – “why do the players wear elbow pads?” The Answer: To make their arms look bigger…ha

The Football 101 Women attend our first Football 101 with the Bears!

Oh what a night! The Football 101 Women attended our first Football 101 with the Bears. Robbie Gould, Earl Bennett, Brett Basanez, Caleb Hanie, Nick Roach and Staley the Bear were all in attendance. We talked a bit of ball, a bit of dating and not surprisingly the Q&A portion of the eve went to the inevitable “Boxers or Briefs” question. And just so you know, Robbie Gould goes commando.

Nick Roach represented the D-Line and talked to a giddy crowd of 750 women about gap control, coverage, zone defense and man-to-man coverage. And on a personal note, he dabbles in cooking:)

It’s Ladies Night with the Chicago Bears!

I know we have already mentioned this in our Top 10 Reason’s Susan already loves football, but I have to express the absolutely awesomeness that this is: We Are Going Backstage With The Bears. Oh.My.God.

It’s one thing to watch football on TV, it’s an entirely different thing to stand next to a football player. Maybe one of them will let me touch his bicep! Yes, my husband will be jealous, but these men aren’t real, They Are Bears.
