Football 101 Women Top 10
So, we are in week 4 of the NFL season. How is it going for me so far? I thought it would be easiest to tell you in my first Top 10s post.
The Top 10 reasons I love football so far…
1. The NFL went pink! Anyone who knows me can tell you that pink is my absolute fave color…just check out our site. Besides that, I work in health care and Breast Cancer Awareness is a cause that is near and dear to me. What great PR from the NFL!
2. The NFL moves. Have you seen the way some of those guys flip around the field and just get right back on their feet? I was watching the Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions game on Sunday and Jay Cutler flipped right into a touchdown! Check out YouTube and I guarantee you’ll see some great replays.
3. New clothes. Have you ever noticed that a new hobby = new gift ideas from your loved ones?! I have, and am a proud new owner of my first three Chicago Bears shirts. No matter what your fave NFL team, check out Alyssa Milano’s Touch Line for jerseys, jackets, even jeans!
4. Support from fans. Football 101 Women already has 70 Facebook fans and 215 Twitter followers as I write this. This is before a formal launch and within one month of going live. Thanks so much to all of you – you are why we are here!
5 Ladies Night. OMG. I can not wait. Lisa and I are going to really get our game on after the Chicago Bears Ladies Night on Nov. 3. Sign up for some firsthand education, a tour of Soldier Field and a chance to meet NFL players!
6. Funny names.
Ever hear of Johnny Jolly? I didn’t until the Green Bay vs. Minnesota game tonight. Ha! I love it. How about Ben Gay, former Browns running back? And you Chicago girls KNOW you shared a snicker or two the first time you heard Dick Butkus…
7. Relating to others. If you haven’t noticed, football is all around us right now. It’s nice to be able to talk about the big game or understand NFL references. One of my new fave shows, The Good Wife, used the Hail Mary analogy last week. I gave actress Juliana Margulies a knowing wink.
8. Tradition. One of our fans on facebook asked why people love football so much. So I reached out to women who love football on my ning.com networks and the overarching theme is tradition — within families, with friends, at school. Great memories go along with great football. It feels good to be part of something so big.
9. New ideas. Being in the marketing/PR industry, I thrive on learning new words or looking at words in a new light and integrating them in my writing. And now, I have new words AND new analogies I can pull from: gridiron, trajectory, cadence. Who needs the word-of-the-day desk calendar?
10. And finally, the drama. The NFL carries its very own type . Makes sense with all the players and conferences (don’t worry, we’ll cover that soon!). Tonight, I learned so much about Brett Favre. His story is one of betrayal, love and victory. And, who can forget his appearance in one of the funniest movies of all time….
